Uri Caine and cellist Mario Brunello together for the first time, with Bach Networks from January 24th to February 2nd touring Italy and Switzerland (Lugano) |
Uri Caine and Mario Brunello are together to play Bach, there's also room for a solitary improvisation by Uri Caine, for a new work written by the American pianist, to cement the collaboration with the Italian cello player. It's a high level meeting between one of the best jazz musicians of the contemporary scene and one of most loved cello players in Italy and abroad. It's a dialogue between two different musical worlds, by two musicians, who have in their artistic and human dna a spirit of adventure, which led them beyond their original fields of expression. |

Django Bates' Belovèd |
Django Bates’ Belovèd
Django Bates Piano Petter Eldh Double Bass Peter Bruun Drums
"Bird Lives" was the prophetic graffito seen on a NY wall soon after Charlie Parker's death and it continues to testify to the remarkable time-capsule from the future that was bebop. In tonight’s concert Belovèd present the compositions of Parker and Bates from their new album Confirmation. Django’s originals stand in their own right but also serve to recontextualise Parker’s lines, using the same rhythmic and harmonic signature that is brought to bear in his astonishing re-workings of "Donna Lee", "Confirmation", et al. "Bates now has one of jazz's great piano trios on his hands. His restless questing after new experiences probably won't keep it there for long".

Henslowe:
Mr Fennyman, let me explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of unsurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster. Believe me, to be closed by the plague is a bagatelle in the ups and downs of owing a theatre.
Fennyman:
So what do we do?
Henslowe:
Nothing. Strangely enough it all turns out well.
Fennyman:
How?
Henslowe:
I don't know. It's a mystery.
Lambert:
Should I kill him, Mr Fennyman?
